A powerful message from a 2013 LEAP student.
Ever wonder what your trajectory for success would be if you learned about law school, moot court, what careers a law degree can lead you to BEFORE law school? The Fund knows that for too long there has been a gap in the education pipeline for young Hispanic leaders. To help us address this issue, we invite you to consider becoming a LEAP Guide! Your leadership as a law student guide to high school students will include participation in a fun and informative week of law study and training at a top tier university. Highlights of the program include workshops on advocacy, the basics of local government and at the Federal level, how the Courts work, impact litigation at the grassroots community organizing level, how to apply for college and career guidance. Fun, recreation and entertainment will also be provided in the evenings to give everyone a great opportunity to get to know one another. Participants will tour the Federal court buildings, have one-on-one visits at prestigious law firms, conduct a mock trial, attend legislative sessions, and meet with members of the legal professionals at the local, state and federal level. Students and their LEAP small group discussion leaders will reside in dormitories located on the campus of a top tier university. Transportation during the conference, accommodations, meals and program materials are included. Additionally, at the successful conclusion of LEAP, law student guides will be given a $1,500 stipend for their work. Travel to and from LEAP is not included.
