WASHINGTON, DC; September 9, 2013 – Houston attorney Juan Vasquez, Jr. was elected to the board of directors of The HNBA Legal Education Fund (The HNBA Fund). The election was held during the 2013 Hispanic National Bar Association’s annual convention in Denver, Colorado.
Vasquez is a shareholder at the law firm of Chamberlain, Hrdlicka, White, Williams & Aughtry. He represents clients on federal, state and local tax matters – including administrative and policy issues before the Internal Revenue Service – and provides counsel on tax planning strategies. Vasquez also serves as Adjunct Professor at both the University of Houston Law Center and Texas Southern University’s Thurgood Marshall School of Law, and on the boards of several non-profit organizations.
“I am very pleased to welcome Juan Vasquez, Jr. to the board of directors,” said HNBA-LEF president Omar Vargas. “His experience and profound commitment to the Hispanic community will be an invaluable asset to our organization and its mission.”
Other board announcements include the re-election of Jennifer Trusso to a one-year term and the retirement of former New Mexico Attorney General Patricia Madrid.
Jennifer Trusso is a partner at the law firm of Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP. Based in Costa Mesa, California, she is a member of the firm’s Intellectual Property practice and its Latin American team.
Patricia Madrid’s distinguished legal career includes being the first woman elected as both district judge and Attorney General in New Mexico.
